Mixed Me! {Mixed Us!}

A couple of weeks ago, Ronan (my little one) and I attended a #MultiCultiMixer event at Kidville in Brentwood, CA. It was hosted by Sonia Smith-Kang of Mixed Up Clothing
and it included a panel discussion about raising multi-racial/cultural children, an adorable fashion show, and a reading of Taye Diggs' new book,
Mixed Me! the author himself!

My boys and I love reading this book!
It's beautifully written-lighthearted and fun with a message of self-acceptance to embrace diversity.

Since both my husband (who's mixed Peruvian/Russian) and I were born and raised in LA, we grew-up exposed to this city's huge melting-pot and its rich diverse it's refreshing to see it expand into a Children's literature.
My older son,Caiden has questioned why Daddy has blue eyes and he has brown ones...which I find cute because, although he sees a difference, he still says he and his dad are TWINS!

Mixed Me! is a great book for my family since both boys can relate to Mike and see that...

"We mixed you perfectly, and got you just right!"

Thank you again Sonia for having us!

Halloween Kick-off Party!

Last year I started a new Halloween tradition with my little boy, watching
It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and he LOVED it!
So this year, I wanted to throw a party for him and his friends to kick-off the Halloween season right!

I was so thrilled to find everything I needed from
From cute little character pics that I used in our Popcorn bar to adorable gable boxes that the kids got to take home...OTC had everything! If you subscribe to their email list-you won't miss out on FREE SHIPPING days!

I used these Jack O' Lantern snack cups to hold toppings for the Popcorn Bar.
I kept the toppings simple and used gummy bears, chocolate covered sunflower seeds, and of course, pumpkin seeds.

I used adorable Peanuts stickers
for an instant customized Popcorn box to fit our theme.

Found these spooky cupcakes
at our local Trader Joe's.

Kids got to fill their
ghostly cups with Horchata.

And finally, the less mess-the better!
Kids got to color Halloween crowns and decorate a Pumpkin using Peanuts foam stickers...
...I LOVE no-carving Pumpkin decorations. :)

Hope you and your kids have a

Aloha to Summer

Summer is coming to an end
and the kids will be heading back-to-school soon.
So say "ALOHA"
with a Luau!

You don't have to celebrate big...just make sure its colorful!
We had a playdate Luau with a few of Caiden's friends and
our little Luau was a big hit!

The Hibiscus Table Skirt made a huge impact on our dessert table,
especially since I only had a few snacks and treats.
For some color and a more tropical feel,
I used the Bright Lei Garland as a backdrop and placed Lanterns throught the area.

Love how these products are reusable!

Customize store-bought cupcakes with fun toppers. I made these toppers to go with the "Aloha" theme.

The kids loved these Palm Tree Picks with marshmallows!

Parents got in on the fun with the Beach Monkey photobooth while the kids enjoyed playing
it was the perfect height for our preschoolers.

Hope you had a great Summer,

Our First Family Camping Trip

This past weekend we went on our first family camping trip!
It was also my first camping experience, so you can imagine how nervous I was.
I wanted to go Glamping, but living with two boys-I was out numbered!
We went with two other families, which made me feel more comfortable since they were both camping pros.
Since it was a last minute trip, finding a campground was a little difficult.
I learned that most are booked up to a year in advanced.
While I was searching for campgrounds, I came across these helpful sites that had a list of family-friendly campgrounds near the LA area. Woo Hoo!

Mommy Popping LA (for last minute campers-like us)

Wheeler Gorge (site 55) in Ojai, CA
was available and it was the perfect size for all 3 families.
Not much amenties (i.e no water, coin showers...) but we had the BEST time!

Playing games, drinking, eating, making S'mores, and watching shooting stars can I not enjoy camping.

Moscow Mules was the perfect cocktail for a Summer treat!
2oz. Vodka
1cup Ginger Beer
1 teaspoon Raw Agave syrup (from Trader Joe's)
Squeeze some lime and garnish with mint
**Inspired by Sugar and Charm**

We also went a little fancy and brought Chia Seed pudding and Cold Brew Coffee to share.
My friend made a delicious Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Ganache and Strawberry Chia Seeds in
Mason Jars (great for camping).
And of course I brought a little Birthday sign and name toppers!  :)

We went on a beautiful hike (with lots of Poison Oak)
that was only a .7 milie loop-
great for our little ones.
Spending 3 days/2 nights in the woods was plenty for us, especially with the hot weather!

 Happy Campers
...ready for the next camping adventure!
